British Swimming unveils official airline- 1 Jul 2011 00:00:00
British Swimming has announced British Airways as its official airline, in a deal that will provide national teams with flights to major swimming events.
British Airways will provide support to the British Gas Great Britain swimming, disability swimming, diving, synchro and water polo teams through flights to major competitions.
The deal will see squads bound for next week’s IPC Swimming European Championships in Berlin and the FINA World Championships in Shanghai use British Airways as their official airline.
British Swimming chief executive David Sparkes said: ‘We are delighted to welcome British Airways to the Swimming family’.
‘The world class airline’s involvement is providing real, tangible support to our athletes, coaches and team staff as they prepare for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games’.
Luisa Fernandez, British Airways global sponsorship manager, added: ‘We are delighted to work with such talented athletes who are set to soar to new heights at the London 2012 Games. They are a true inspiration to current and future generations of British talent, and we are proud to support them on their journey’.
British Airways will be launching its new advertising campaign this week which will include stories of British Disability swimmers Liz Johnson, Claire Cashmore and Susie Rodgers.
The partnership with British Swimming runs until December 2012.
