Rock ‘N’ Roll Football to take on live audience- 13 Oct 2011 00:00:00
Absolute Radio is staging its very first Rock ‘N’ Roll Football Boys Night In - an exclusive event raising money for youth charity The Prince’s Trust, to be held at the studios in One Golden Square on Tuesday 18th October.
The station’s lead football anchors Ian Wright and Russ Williams will host proceedings, along with regular contributors to the show, including former Arsenal man Perry Groves, comedian Ian Stone plus special guest, Spurs legend and Prince’s Trust Ambassador Gary Mabbutt.
The team will act as an expert panel, and will bring the Rock ‘N’ Roll Football Saturday show mechanic to a live audience for the very first time.
A select crowd will watch Man City take on Villarreal in the Champions League, and talk tactics and predictions with the stars of the show before taking in the match on three big screens.
Complimentary food and refreshments will be on offer, as Ian Wright leads a pre-match Q&A session.
At half time an auction will take place featuring a series of top prizes and memorabilia including an England shirt signed by the squad, a free subscription to Sky 3D for a year and Absolute Radio footballs signed by music stars.
In what hopes to be the start of a regular series of events, the Rock ‘N’ Roll Football Boys Night In will showcase the station’s football offering to potential commercial partners while raising money to support dedicated charity partner The Prince’s Trust.
Money raised will go towards helping disadvantaged young people across the UK get the skills and confidence they need to get a job.
Through its partnership with the Premier League and Professional Footballers Association, The Trust has helped over 17,000 young people through football since 1997, working with over 65 Premier League and Football League Clubs to deliver a range of programmes that have helped three in four young people in to work, training or education.
The night will also be filmed and recorded for www.absoluteradio.co.uk with a special podcast being made for listeners to enjoy after the event.
The station signed a three year deal for Barclays Premier League Football commentary rights in 2010. Rock ‘N’ Roll Football with Ian Wright, Jim Proudfoot and Russ Williams is on Absolute Radio and Absolute Radio extra every Saturday from 1.30pm.
