Clydesdale Bank to sponsor 40-over competition- 16 Feb 2010 00:00:00
Clydesdale Bank has been confirmed by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) as the title sponsor of the new domestic 40-over competition, the Clydesdale Bank 40.
The new Clydesdale Bank 40 is one of three competitions making up the 2010 domestic season, along with the Twenty20 Cup and the County Championship.
The 18 first-class counties will play alongside Scotland, the Netherlands and an ECB Recreational XI in the tournament.
It has replaced the 50-over tournament, previously sponsored by Friends Provident, that was won by Hampshire last year.
The majority of the Clydesdale Bank 40 matches will be played on Sundays as the tournament looks to appeal sport-loving families.
Lord’s will host the Clydesdale Bank 40 Final on 18th September 2010.
Clydesdale has been has been a supporter of cricket and the ECB since 2005, sponsoring the Twenty20 competition for the last four years.
