IMG wins badminton media rights brief- 6 Sep 2010 00:00:00
The Badminton World Federation (BWF), the governing body for badminton, has appointed IMG Media, a division of IMG Worldwide, to handle all media rights sales for BWF major events in all territories, across all five continents.
The deal, which includes the BWF World Championships, is for a three-year period, beginning in 2011.
Besides the World Championships, IMG Media will also market major BWF events like the Thomas Cup (the Men’s World Team Championship), Uber Cup (the Women’s Team Championship), the Sudirman Cup (the World Team Championship), World Junior Championships and World Senior Championships.
The BWF World Championships will be hosted at the Wembley Arena in London, England in 2011 while the Sudirman Cup will be played in Qingdao, China.
Chinese Taipei and Vancouver, Canada are the hosts for the 2011 World Junior Championships and World Senior Championships.
