Swim England is among a host of UK sport industry organisations and partners activating around World Mental Health Day 2018.
The governing body of swimming in England released the findings of a YouGov poll it commissioned into the impact of swimming on participants’ mental wellbeing.
It found that 1.4 million adults in the UK believe that swimming significantly reduces the impact of their mental health conditions.
Limelight Sports is to take over the running of three major mass participation events under license from IMG.
The mass participation specialist will operate the AJ Bell London Triathlon, The Bloodwise Blenheim Palace Triathlon, and Etape Caledonia from 2019.
Under the agreement, Limelight Sports will run all aspects of the respective events with the target of growing their impact and attracting new participants and commercial partnerships.

Beyond Sport has revealed the 35 international organisations shortlisted for the 10th anniversary edition of the Beyond Sport Global Awards.

British Gymnastics has agreed a new three-year partnership with Parkwood Leisure to increase the opportunities for children to take part in gymnastics across the country.
The partnership will see the governing body work with Parkwood Leisure, which manages more than 80 facilities on behalf of a range of local authorities throughout England and Wales, to standardise the gymnastics offering throughout its leisure centres.
Lewis Pugh, the UN ‘Patron of the Oceans’ and renowned endurance swimmer, has announced his latest challenge, which will see him call on the British government to urgently protect the seas around the UK coast and British overseas territories.
Lewis will attempt to swim the full length of the English Channel, wearing just Speedo swimming trunks, a cap and goggles, starting at Land’s End in Cornwall on Thursday 12th July, with the swim expected to end at Dover towards the end of August.
parkrun UK and the Royal College of General Practitioners are launching an initiative which could see patients being ‘prescribed’ outdoor physical activity rather than medication.
The initiative aims to improve the health and wellbeing of health care staff, patients and carers, reducing the need for lifelong medication. In 2017, the 1.11 billion prescriptions dispensed in communities across the UK cost £9.17bn.
The Rugby League World Cup 2021 (RLWC2021) has announced its legacy programme, as well as a new partnership with Unicef UK, which becomes the official charity of the tournament.
The programme, ‘Inspired by 2021’, will comprise of three strands: volunteers, facilities and community engagement. According to organisers, the programme will look to use the tournament as a catalyst to develop the game of rugby league and engage with the widest possible audience.
The Beyond Sport Foundation has been selected by electronics giant, Xiaomi, as the beneficiary of its #RaiseTheCup campaign.
From 14th June to 15th July, Xiaomi will donate $0.25, up to $150,000, for every photo or video shared to Twitter and Instagram using these guidelines:
1. Take a picture or video of yourself raising a cup (or something else, be creative!)
2. Post it publically to Instagram or Twitter using the hashtags #RaiseTheCup and #Xiaomi
3. Tag 3 friends
