Chelsea have unveiled their new home and away kits, which will feature the logo of new Principal Partner Three UK, and will be made from 100% recycled polyester.

Matchday kits, as well as all replica jerseys made for fans have been made by manufacturer Nike who make the fabric from recycled plastic bottles.

To create the kits that deliver peak performance with a lower impact on the environment, the club says the plastic bottles are collected, cleaned and melted down to produce a high-quality yarn for manufacturing.

Since 2010, Nike has been using recycled polyester to produce football kits as well as Flyknit yarns for footwear, which have, so far, diverted 7.5 billion plastic bottles away from landfills and waterways.

The kit will also include the phrase ‘The Pride of London’ which the club says is reminiscent of the labels sewn inside London-crafted suits.

“London is the epicentre of men’s tailoring and the kit takes its inspiration from this iconic craft,” said Scott Munson, Vice President, Nike Football Apparel.

“We paid tribute to the work of these skilled tailors with the use of bespoke details and trims to create a really crisp aesthetic which complements Chelsea’s uniquely stylish identity.”
