City Football Group has launched a new start-up accelerator programme, inviting early-stage businesses to help transform the match-day experience for fans at the stadium and beyond.
The initiative follows the success of two Hackathons held at the Etihad Stadium in 2016 and 2017.
Now, City Football Group is debuting a new global opportunity for start-up companies to help solve five big challenges identified by City’s global network of football clubs.
Partners collaborating in the project include Sapphire Ventures which, with City Football Group, jointly launched a first-of-its-kind $115m sport venture fund, and the UK Government’s Department for International Trade.
The opportunity is open to businesses both inside and outside the sport sector.
Shortlisted companies will be invited to join City Football executives in Manchester in June to participate in a week of accelerated project planning.
The best performing start-ups will then be funded to launch a short-term pilot test of their solution.
Applications for the programme are being accepted until the end of the month.
