Extreme E has announced that it will offer ‘virtual hospitality’ around its races, when it launches in 2021.
The all-electric off-road SUV racing series says its aim is to bring the Extreme E experience to guests remotely in their homes and offices. Because of the remote locations and endangered status of the race venues, no fans were ever going to be present at the events, however the series says that the pandemic has highlighted the need for innovative solutions to how events are run.
The packages will include access to a VIP portal, a live-streaming service, garage tours, race director cuts, a chat platform, and access to team and driver radios as well a live DJ stream, according to the series.
It has also confirmed that it will send VR goggles to guests who will be able to watch footage filmed with 3D cameras as well as being given access driver interviews, track walks, drone laps and hot laps. VIP guests will also have the opportunity to put questions to drivers and celebrities at the races.
“As a championship, we are always looking to innovate and offer the best access and experiences to our teams and partners,” said Alejandro Agag, Founder and CEO, Extreme E. “If Covid-19 has taught us anything, it is that there is technology in place to allow us to do pretty much anything remotely.
“Virtual Reality is becoming more and more prevalent in society, and it is something we are taking very seriously here at Extreme E. The aim of the virtual hospitality packages will be to provide a memorable and immersive experience for guests without needing to travel thousands of miles. It is a fantastic opportunity for our partners to really show their employees what they are supporting and fully engage them in the culture of the championship and the remote locations Extreme E visits.”
As part of the package, Extreme E says it will also provide a ‘VIP culinary experience’, sending a personal chef to the home or office of the guest to create a themed menu based on the race location, with an extra option to order hamper boxes including signed merchandise, a signature drink mix from the race location and ‘climate warrior’ bracelets.
