During the first Clasico of the 2020/21 season - and the first Barcelona v Real Madrid match to take place under coronavirus restrictions - LaLiga debuted a suite of graphics, revealing new insights into the game.

The new graphics revealed nuggets of information to the viewer throughout the game, revealing insights around patterns of play and set pieces.

Using its data technology platform Mediacoach, LaLiga presented real-time information about players which was converted into graphics and inserted into the broadcast pictures.

According to LaLiga, the 3D graphics will continue throughout the season, allowing viewers to see real-time heat maps for specific players, visualisations of which side of the pitch a team is more likely to attack, or the chances of whether a corner kick will be played into the six-yard box or passed short to a teammate.
