Manchester United has announced the launch of a premium streaming app, available to fans worldwide.
The app will feature its TV channel and cost between £1.49 and £4.99 per month for those who play out on a live feed of MUTV with other additional features.
Due to broadcast deals with the Premier League, the app will not be available to UK fans and will not be introduced in countries where the club feel it would impinge on exisiting sponsors.
It will provide access to a continuous live stream of United’s 24 hour TV channel and on-demand library of top picks, documentary boxsets, studio shows, recent matches, highlights and classic matches. It also shows live coverage of Under-21 and Under-18 games, with full replays of all first-team games shortly after the completion of the matches.
Executive vice chairman, Ed Woodward said: "It will enable us to build a global base of customers, tracking user behaviour within the app and test and optimise marketing. It's something we expect to grow steadily over time.
"We believe the mobile side of the business will grow over the years. We're measured about expectations around this."
