QPR has unveiled plans to enter esports with Virtual Pro Gaming (VPG) and will launch the club’s first esports team.
The Championship side plans to field an 11 strong FIFA team, with the club reporting that hundreds of gamers from around the world have already signed up to represent the club.
There are still four positions to be filled, goalkeeper, right back, attacking midfielder and centre forward. To trial, fans just need to go to the QPR esports page and register interest ahead of a live trial game on Saturday 11th November.
Once the squad roster is complete, the QPR esports team will play fixtures on a regular basis, with one match a week streamed live via the club's YouTube platform.
QPR commercial director, Euan Inglis, told www.qpr.co.uk: “We’re excited to be taking our first steps into eSports with Virtual Pro Gaming.
“There is great scope for us to take this partnership with VPG from strength to strength over the coming seasons, with eSports very much at the fore-front of our digital strategy going forward.”
