Throughout the ongoing coronavirus crisis, Sport Industry Group is using our Cutting Edge Sport section to highlight the innovations, initiatives and ingenuity of the sport industry as it aims to help solve the issue and save lives.

Obstacle course race and endurance brand, Spartan, has announced its first UK Honour Series event, which the brand says will pay tribute to military, police, first responders and NHS staff.

The weekend races at the brand’s Windsor event - currently scheduled to take place on 10th and 11th October 2020 - will play host to three race distances and will feature waves dedicated solely to those who have served on the frontline. Spartan says there will be a ‘significant discount’ available for eligible participants.

“From its very beginning, Spartan has been steadfast in supporting those who motivate us, protect us, serve us - those who achieve more than anyone thinks they can,” said Matt Brooke, Managing Director, Spartan UK and Ireland.

“Now more than ever, our NHS, first responders, police and military, and all those who put their lives on the line for us every day, have shown how to overcome any obstacle that stands in our way.

“The 2020 Honour Series will provide a unique opportunity for veterans and those on the frontline to unite and race together. It will be an incredible event for the Obstacle Course Race community as we celebrate all those who live the Spartan mantra daily to get through tough times. Windsor is known amongst Spartan’s for being the biggest race of the season, so it’s the perfect setting for this commemorative event.”

Spartan has also announced a bespoke new ‘honour medal’ for the series, which will be presented to finishers.
