Throughout the coronavirus crisis, Sport Industry Group has used its Cutting Edge Sport section to highlight the innovations, initiatives and ingenuity of the sport industry as it aims to help solve the issue and save lives.
A host of sporting venues are among the seven COVID-19 vaccination ‘mega centres’ which have opened to assist the roll-out of the programme.
The seven centres, including the Etihad Tennis Centre in Manchester, Bristol’s Ashton Gate Stadium (pictured above), and the Epsom Downs racecourse, will be supplemented by smaller centres around the country.
Other vaccine centres could be added as the list expands, with sporting venues again being used alongside conference venues, as well as GP surgeries and pharmacies.
Harlequins’ Twickenham Stoop stadium has been confirmed as a venue, and will see vaccinations take place seven days a week in the Chris Robshaw Bar apart from on matchdays, while Tottenham Hotspur have offered the use of their new stadium as a centre.
