The Washington Redskins and NBC Washington have teamed up to bring live prediction games to fans during the four pre-season games which will take place ahead of the new NFL season, beginning in September.
Airing on NBC Washington Plus, at the same time as standard broadcast of the game airs on NBC Washington, fans will have the opportunity to predict in-game outcomes and win points for their correct calls. The game is free-to-play, but fans can win up to $1,000 each quarter, as well as other money-can’t-buy prizes.
“We are committed to delivering the most engaging experience possible to fans, so the opportunity to partner with the Redskins to combine live NFL action with predictive gaming this preseason is something we are very excited about,” said Damon Phillips, SVP and General Manager, NBC Sports Washington.
Earlier this year, the channel ran another predict the game simulcast with NBA franchise the Washington Wizards, in an early attempt at a betting focused broadcast after US gambling laws had been relaxed.
It has also been reported that the wider NBC Sports broadcaster has registered betting-related domains such as NBCSportsBook.com as sports betting could become a lucrative new revenue stream in the USA.
