English Institute of Sport: Hormonix - Female Hormone Monitoring
There is a significant under-representation of females included in sport and exercise science and medicine research. As such, female specific health and exercise performance remains poorly understood.
So, the English Institute of Sport (EIS), in collaboration with Mint Diagnostics, created Hormonix, an innovative and game-changing new technology that will provide real-time female hormone data, offering athletes a detailed insight into their menstrual cycle, enabling more individualized, precise health and performance support.
Used by Manchester City Women, the technology has the potential to help not just elite athletes, but women of all abilities to better understand their hormones and how they can influence individual health.
Extreme E: Season 1
Extreme E is a racing series like no other. The radical new off-road racing series that showcases electric SUVs and future technologies in some of the world’s most remote and challenging environments.
The first sport ever to be built out of a social purpose, Extreme E utilises its sporting platform to help promote electrification, environment and equality. Racing in locations damaged by climate change or human interference, the series goal is to maximise awareness around these issues, whilst minimising the environmental impact that goes with hosting major events. It engages with local communities and organisations to build lasting legacy projects, aiding these stunning locations to start their own journey to recovery.
ECB: The Hundred
The Hundred kick-started a revolution in cricket to reach a broader audience. The exhilarating new format made the game easy for everyone to understand. Combining world-class sport with high-octane entertainment, innovative event delivery, and a completely integrated digital offering, The Hundred offered an excellent fan experience.
Results were tangible. Over 16 million watched on TV. Online video views reached 34 million. 510,000 tickets were issued (55% of buyers were new to the game), with 19% for children. Records for women’s cricket were smashed from day one with 267,000 people watching a women’s game during the four-week competition.
The IRONMAN Group: IRONMAN Virtual Club
During the COVID-19 pandemic, IRONMAN was faced with a challenge of finding a way to keep athletes connected, involved, and engaged while the world grinded to a halt. This pivot led to the launch of the IRONMAN Virtual Club, and its perseverance as a digital platform as the world shifts into the ‘new normal’.
The IRONMAN Virtual Club is a digital platform that allows athletes to continue training with purpose, remain connected to the community, and provide the opportunity to stay involved and motivated. It offers different challenges and races for athletes to participate in from home, utilising connected fitness platforms and wearable tracking devices.
It secured over half a million athletes in 180 nations, encouraging fitness and improving wellbeing during the challenging lockdown period.
Vodafone: Vodafone PLAYER.Connect
Vodafone PLAYER.Connect is a performance solution that aggregates the data from various wearable devices and player wellness monitoring tools used by elite-level sports players. It tracks hundreds of performance metrics, including, speed, acceleration, distance, heart rate, sleep quality and quantity, and recovery.
The innovation formed a key part of the British and Irish Lions tour of South Africa. By monitoring the key performance indicators, from speed and distance to sleep quality and recovery, and surfacing the data seamlessly via our series of dashboards, Vodafone empowered the Lions management team to make the right decisions at the right time, promoting player welfare and reducing the risk of injury.
