Invictus Games Foundation - Work Placements

At the BT Sport Industry Awards, Sport Industry Group announced its partnership with the Invictus Games Foundation to help create career opportunities within the sport industry for wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women.

These opportunities are available for serving personnel or veterans.

Tennis Foundation

The Tennis Foundation is Britain’s leading tennis charity. We believe anybody can play tennis, and that the sport can enhance lives. We aim to drive and support this through tennis in education, disability development, disability performance and community.

The role: This will cover various aspects of the organisation, including:

  • Enhancing current military tennis (for wounded servicemen and women) activity to support the disability development and performance teams
  • Administrative support to the Education team (support to schools, colleges and universities)
  • Event support for the Wheelchair Tennis Masters event in London 

Ideal candidate: We are looking for someone who can bring passion, energy and positivity to the team. Someone with good self-management, is well organised and has good people skills with the ability to network and develop effective relationships. A passion for tennis and / or sport will be a bonus!

Start date: January 2017

Duration: Three months full-time or part-time

Location: London

Remuneration: £1,092 per month – dependant on whether this is a full-time or part-time role

The Football Foundation

The Football Foundation is the UK’s largest sports’ charity. Funded by the Premier League, The Football Association and the Government, the Foundation directs £30m every year into grassroots sport.

Our mission is to improve facilitiescreate opportunities and build communities throughout England.

The roles: Two roles available – dependent on where the successful applicants will fit best. Opportunities range from business services support to working with the monitoring and evaluation department.

Ideal candidates: We are looking for individuals who have an eye for detail, work well within a team environment, are good communicators and have some experience with Microsoft packages.

Duration: Two months full-time

Remuneration: Travel expenses as a minimum and potentially minimum wage

M&C Saatchi Sport & Entertainment

M&C Saatchi Sport & Entertainment is an award winning creative communications agency, specialising in sponsorship consultancy, PR, branded content creation, social and digital solutions and event production across the sport and entertainment sectors.

The role: Digital Executive

We are looking for an exceptional candidate to join our industry leading digital team.  Reporting to the Digital Director, you will be responsible for managing social communities for some of the biggest brands in the world, as well as contributing to the creative process in all our digital work. This will involve constantly challenging yourself to find innovative uses for existing and emerging technology / software / platforms etc.

Ideal candidate: We are looking for a dedicated individual with a passion for sport and a keen interest in the world of digital and social media. The ideal candidate will have the ability to think logically, write well and express things creatively. We value curiosity, attention to detail and self-motivation to succeed.

Remuneration: London Living Wage at £18,000 pro rata for the contracted period of two months

Mediacom Sport & Entertainment

Mediacom Sport & Entertainment’s offering is built on 4 key pillars; sponsorship strategy, sponsorship activation, sponsorship measurement and commercial talent representation.

The role: We are looking for an intern to help in delivering client work across all parts of our business.  The role will provide an amazing opportunity to contribute in delivery of strategic work, new business initiatives and development of commercial brand strategies for some of the highest profile male and female athletes.

Ideal candidate: We are looking for someone with contagious energy who thrives in a team environment.  We don’t need an expert or someone with sponsorship experience. What we are after is someone who wants to be exposed to many aspects of the sponsorship business and who is prepared to roll up their sleeves and be a part of our exciting growth. 

Start date: January 2017

Duration: Three months full-time and we will consider extending the time period if successful

Location: London

Remuneration: £17,000 pro rata for the contracted period of three months


Although not linked to sport, this opportunity provides the chance to gain valuable skills transferable to a variety of sectors.
