Specialist health, fitness and lifestyle PR and marketing agency Action PR has appointed Miranda Markham, formerly a director at PR agency, Citizen Relations, as head of industry. In the newly created position, Markham will develop and oversee strategy on the agency’s portfolio of industry-focused accounts, which include Everyone Active, DW Fitness First, Youth Sport Trust and Future Fit Training.
With more than ten years’ experience in communications, social strategy and PR working with some of the world’s most preeminent brands, Markham will also be involved in end-to-end new business planning, agency growth and expansion.
While at Citizen, Markham led the development of strategic PR campaigns for the P&G Homecare business for EMEA, Citizen’s largest client. The portfolio included several iconic European brands including Flash, Fairy and Febreze. Formerly based in the Citizen Toronto office, Markham was the social media director, responsible for building and executing social strategies across the agency’s client roster. She also writes an award-winning fitness and running blog.
Cheryl Hersey, director at Action PR said: “Miranda brings with her a wealth of strategic PR experience which will be invaluable as our client portfolio continues to grow. As the fitness industry continues its rapid expansion, and opportunities to win international business present themselves, I believe Miranda’s global experience will give us another edge in this increasingly competitive industry.
"Over the last 12 months we’ve focused on the growth of our consumer division, headed by the eminent Rachel Moule, but our industry-focused campaigns and knowledge of the sector remain a unique strength. Miranda’s appointment will ensure we stay at the forefront of fitness industry PR, strengthening our campaigns, our offering and our team.”
Markham added: “This is an agency with huge potential. Action PR has excellent clients and unparalleled expertise in the fitness industry. Backed by a passionate team of PR professionals and fitness enthusiasts, I look forward to helping take the agency to the next phase.”
Markham’s appointment follows closely after Charlie Knight joins the team as digital marketing manager, taking the agency team to 12.
