AJBXNG, the management company set up by boxing world champion Anthony Joshua, has agreed a multi-year deal between Nike and boxer Joshua Buatsi, which will see the Rio 2016 bronze medallist become Nike’s latest athlete ambassador.

The deal will see the global sports brand become Buatsi’s official sports apparel and footwear partner as he continues to progress his professional career. The partnership will focus on Josh’s connection with London - born out of the help and support he and his family received from the Croydon community when they arrived in London from Ghana 17 years ago.

Buatsi represented GB at the Rio Olympics before turning professional in the light-heavyweight division just under a year ago. Since making the switch to the professional ranks, Buatsi has an unbeaten record from his first six bouts.

Talking about the deal, Josh said: "To partner with Nike, especially so early in my professional career, is amazing. I’m a huge fan of their footwear, clothing and brand. When I signed with them we discussed their vision for supporting the local community which is something I feel very strongly about. My family and I received a lot of help when we first arrived in the UK and I’m now in a position where I can give back and support those in need."

Joshua is managed by heavyweight world champion, Anthony Joshua and signed with AJBXNG after completing his degree in Management Studies and Sport Science at St Mary’s University.

Freddie Cunningham, managing director of AJBXNG, said: “Joshua [Buatsi] is a huge talent with unlimited potential and an amazing mentality. He wants to sit on top of the sport as well as showcase his charisma outside the ring, so it’s important to have the best brands in the world supporting him on this journey.

“Nike will help elevate Buatsi as an athlete and also communicate his brand away from boxing. It’s great to be working with the Nike team who share the same values as a young London talent striving to be the best.”
