Amazon has confirmed an exclusive rights deal in the UK and Ireland with the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA), starting from 2020.

The four-year deal will start with a minimum of 49 tournaments next year. Amazon Prime members in the UK and Ireland will receive access to live events at no extra cost to their membership.

Prime members will be able to watch up to 2,000 live and on-demand matches each year, including premier events such as the BNP Paribas Open, Miami Open, Madrid Open and China Open, along with the season-ending WTA Finals in Shenzhen, China.

“As soon as the opportunity to bid for the women’s tennis rights became available, we couldn’t wait to bring the tournament to Prime Video, giving customers the chance to watch the best in both women’s and men’s tennis all in one place for the first time,” Alex Green, European Managing Director of Sport at Amazon Prime Video, said.

Amazon already holds rights in the UK and Ireland to the ATP World Tour and the US Open. The company’s ATP World Tour deal runs until 2023, while it will hold US Open rights until 2022.

The Prime Video app is available across TVs, games consoles, set-top boxes and connected devices, including Amazon Fire TV and Apple TV, mobile devices and online.
