BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Sounds have secured the exclusive UK radio rights for Formula 1 for the next three seasons.
The F1 returns on 20th March with the Bahrain Grand Prix and the race will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 5 Live, 5 Sports Extra and BBC Sounds after the commentary rights were extended until the end of the 2024 season. This will include live race commentary, and coverage across the qualifiers and practice sessions.
Two-time W Series champion and Williams development driver, Jamie Chadwick, will work on several races, including the second round in Saudi Arabia. Current British Formula E driver and former F1 reserve driver for Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher, Sam Bird, will also return to the F1 paddock in a commentary capacity for the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix. British driver Jack Aitken and former F1 mechanic Marc Priestley join the line-up too.
5 Live’s popular Chequered Flag podcast will also continue to provide fans with the latest interviews, reaction and reports.
Live coverage of the Bahrain Grand Prix will air on 5 Sports Extra this Sunday from 2.30pm.
