Tell us about yourselves…
“We are British Rowing.
“Our athletes, coaches and support staff, work tirelessly to be one of the leading rowing nations in the world and to remain as one of Great Britain’s most continuously successful sports on the international stage.
“We provide the structure, governance and support for the volunteer rowing community to develop and grow the sport, giving people from all backgrounds the opportunity to be involved in rowing.
“And we provide the opportunity for people to live healthier and more active lives through increasing access to rowing, indoor and on the water.
“Together, we are British Rowing."
Why do you think you made the shortlist?
“2018 has been an exceptional year for British Rowing, from the grassroots right through to the successes of the GB Rowing Team on the international stage.
“We introduced exciting rowing formats to the nation through Power8 Sprints, with Olympic champion Phelan Hill super-subbing on the start line to cox Nottingham’s women’s crew in front of 25,000 people.
“We got people working up a sweat and making positive life choices through indoor rowing, and delivered the biggest ever indoor rowing competition in the world in December, the Mizuno British Rowing Indoor Championships.
“With a relatively junior squad of international athletes with the weight of expectation on them, and a new set-up for the Performance Team, we continued to deliver gold-medal winning performances on the world stage.
“And we did this all, together, with a small team of dedicated staff and volunteers who made it all possible.”
What makes it fun to work at British Rowing?
“People make rowing great.
“The sacrifice and strength of our GB rowers, makes rowing great.
“The volunteers who give up endless hours to help everyone get the most out of their time in rowing, makes rowing great.
“The people who work for British Rowing across every aspect of the sport and business, makes rowing great.”
How do you plan to celebrate?
“Like every good rowing celebration, it will start with the cox (CEO!) being thrown in the water!”
