Channel 4 will air the Formula E documentary ‘And We Go Green’ for the first time on UK TV, following its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in 2019.
The documentary follows five drivers - champion Jean-Eric Vergne, Sam Bird, Lucas di Grassi, Andre Lotterer and ex-Formula E driver Nelson Piquet Jr - as they race across the 2017/18 Formula E Championship.
Highlighting the series’ attempts to combat global warming and air pollution, the film was co-directed by Tiger King producer Fisher Stevens, Malcolm Venville, and Leonardo DiCaprio who also appears in the film. The documentary reunites the Hollywood star with fellow producer Stevens, who previously collaborated on climate change documentary Before the Flood.
“The documentary encapsulates the true mission and purpose of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship, to show how competition drives technological development and how the excitement of sport can have a meaningful social impact and alter perceptions of electric vehicles,” said Formula E Founder & Chairman Alejandro Agag, who also appears in the film.
“This notion is how the title And We Go Green came about. Not only does it signal the start of our races, but it also indicates an urgent need to put the brakes on devastating and irreparable damage already caused by fossil fuels. I’m proud to have worked with such great talent and a production team who share the same common values around sustainability and making a positive impact in the fight against climate change.”
The film will make its UK TV debut at midnight on 2nd June, and will be available on Channel 4’s digital platform All 4 for one year.
