Coca-Cola has become a sponsor of the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, joining the likes of Nissan, Omega and P&G in supporting the event.
The Paralympics will take place from 7th to 18th September next year, with the soft drinks brand securing a range of branding and marketing rights as part of the deal, including the use of Paralympic marks within Brazil.
Coca-Cola is also signed up as a worldwide sponsor of the Olympic Games under the IOC’s Olympic partner programme until 2020.
The news follows an announcement last month that the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) had signed the biggest sponsorship deal in its history; a nine year global partnership with Japanese car manufacturer Toyota.
Flavio Camelier, vice president of Coca-Cola Brazil for Rio 2016, said: “Coca-Cola has had a constant presence in major moments of sporting celebration across the world and we are taking another step in that direction with the sponsorship of the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games.”
