GB Taekwondo has announced 12Bet as an Official Partner of the 2019 World Taekwondo Championships in Manchester in a deal brokered by UK-based sports marketing agency Sport Collective
The agreement builds on an initial partnership between the online betting brand and GB Taekwondo for the World Taekwondo Grand Prix and World Para Taekwondo Championships, staged at London’s Copper Box Arena in 2017.
May's event at the Manchester Arena will mark the first time the World Taekwondo Championships has ever been held in the UK, with home stars including Jade Jones, Bianca Walkden and Lutalo Muhammad expected to take part.
The action will be televised in the UK by BBC Sport, whose multi-platform coverage will include a highlights show on BBC2. The event is also expected to attract significant international coverage in European and Asian markets.
Commenting on the partnership, Matt Archibald, CEO of GB Taekwondo, said: “We are delighted that 12Bet have decided to extend the partnership to a third major event.
“Their support for taekwondo has been extremely valuable during the Tokyo Olympic cycle.
“Home advantage has helped our athletes gain valuable Tokyo ranking points. This deal further demonstrates that we can help brands access both domestic and international markets.”
Rory Anderson, 12Bet spokesman, added: “We have previously sponsored two taekwondo grand prix events in the UK and we have seen the benefit so it’s great that we are now an official partner of the world championships.
“Taekwondo is an exciting sport and has a global audience that our customers are a key part of.”
