Genius Sports has revealed plans to open a new office in Lausanne, Switzerland, as the sports data specialist seeks to strengthen its European offering.
The move into ‘the Olympic capital’, home to many global sports rightsholders, comes just a week after Genius announced its acquisition by investment group Apax Partners.
Genius plans to take up residence inside Lausanne’s prestigious Maison du Sport International (MSI), whose other tenants include a number of the international sports federations.
The London-based firm has previously opened offices in Los Angeles and Medellín, Colombia. Its Lausanne launch has been actively supported by the Foreign Direct Investment Agency of the Swiss Canton de Vaud.
Steven Burton, managing director of Genius Sports, commented: “For over 15 years, Genius Sports’ reputation has been built on forming long-term, trusted partnerships that meet the individual requirements of sports.
“Expanding into Lausanne will not only strengthen these existing partnerships but also drive our growth into new sports going forward.”
Genius Sports Group is a distributor and capturer of real-time sports data, whose software is used by 300 sporting bodies around the world including the Premier League.
Its integrity tools are used by many rightsholders, including the PGA Tour, to monitor match-fixing and other betting-related threats.
