This year’s edition of the Qatar Goodwood Festival event will benefit from widespread media coverage, Racecourse Media Group (RMG) has revealed.
For the first time, the event - which runs from 30th July to 3rd August - will be broadcast by NBC in the US, CBC in Canada and Network Ten in Australia.
NBC will broadcast a live two-hour show on Wednesday, while CBC will show all five days of racing. Horse-racing channels TVG and HPI TV will also provide coverage in the US and Canada, respectively.
Network Ten will provide live coverage of Saturday’s racing, with the Sky Thoroughbred Central Channel to broadcast all five days in Australia. Trackside will cover the event in New Zealand.
In Japan, The Green Channel will broadcast live coverage on Thursday, when Japanese mare Deirdre races in the Qatar Nassau Stakes. Elsewhere, Al Kass will broadcast the event in Qatar, Sportsmax will serve the Caribbean with live coverage, and Tellytrack will broadcast the event in South Africa.
European broadcasters include TV Poland, Match (Russia), Silknet (Georgia), Equidia (France) and Teleippica (Italy). ITV and Racing TV will cover the event in the UK, while Irish fans can watch the action via Virgin Media and Racing TV.
Qatar, represented by the Qatar Racing & Equestrian Club (QREC), last month renewed its title sponsorship of the Goodwood Festival. The previous deal had been due to expire after this year’s event but the new agreement will run until 2024.
