James Cracknell’s South West series, formerly organised by RunJoy, has been taken over by creative agency WMP Sports.

The series includes events in Exeter and Cheltenham as well as the Weston-super-Mare half marathon, which was launched last year.

Prior to the takeover by WMP, the events were run by Cracknell and Charlie Beauchamp, MD and Founder of RunJoy, who organised the series of mass participation running events in the region.

Rupert Martin, Head of Events at WMP Creative, said: “We’re really excited about developing these great events into bigger, better and more engaging active festivals. At the core of all three events are brilliant half marathon routes, but what is equally appealing to us is the addition of the shorter, more accessible distances on the day before. It gives us and partners the opportunity to engage with a much wider audience and really work with the local regions to build awareness of the many benefits that living an active healthy lifestyle brings.”

Former athlete and double Olympic gold medallist James Cracknell said: “I truly believe that events like this can help make societies healthier and happier places. Getting people out and about, being active, and engaging in a fun event all together is what it is about and I’m sure the WMP Sports team will do a brilliant job in doing just that in Exeter, Cheltenham and Weston-super-Mare”.
