LaLiga has announced the opening of its first office in the UK as it seeks to grow its international presence.
The league has unveiled its new offices in London’s King’s Cross area, and will see a team contribute to the growth of clubs in the top flight LaLiga Santander and the second division, LaLiga SmartBank, in the UK.
LaLiga says its new hub will focus on building local relationships that will further enhance its growth on the British Isles.
Speaking about the opening of the new office, Javier Tebas, President, LaLiga, said: "The UK is one of the most important strategic markets for both LaLiga and its clubs. From a business perspective, London is home to the world's leading media outlets, broadcasters and sponsors.
“We look forward to building on the already strong reputation that Spanish football has in the country where the game was born.”
Oscar Mayo, Head of Revenue, Marketing and International Development of LaLiga said: “This strategy sees LaLiga contribute to the growth of LaLiga Santander and LaLiga SmartBank clubs in key markets by offering business opportunities with support provided by our experts in each region.”
The opening of the new office brings LaLiga’s presence to 46 markets via the LaLiga Global Network, however the announcement will be the 11th country in which the league has opened an office.
Alongside Spain and the UK, LaLiga has global offices in the United States, Mexico, Belgium, Nigeria, South Africa, the UAE, India, Singapore, and China.
