We Are Social Sport’s Gareth Leeding has been promoted to a group creative director role as part of a creative department restructuring at socially-led agency We Are Social.
Leeding, who played a key role in establishing We Are Social Sport – the first standalone division at the agency – will see his role expand to include managing creatives throughout the group.
His new position will see him become second-in-command to We Are Social executive creative director Alistair Campbell, working alongside fellow newly-appointed group CD Charlie Cottrell.
Leeding first joined We Are Social in 2012 as the agency’s first creative and has worked on global sport campaigns for brands including adidas and Youtube.
In particular, he was the architect of the Pogba X Stormzy transfer announcement in 2016, a winning campaign from the BT Sport Industry Awards 2017.
Announcing the restructure, We Are Social executive creative director Alistair Campbell said: “Gareth was the very first creative through the doors of We Are Social more than six years ago. Fast forward to today and he now oversees a large creative team, has been instrumental in the creation of the agency’s dedicated sports division, and has even reinvented some of the key moments in sporting culture, such the now-famous Pogba X Stormzy transfer announcement.
“His new role will bring his experience and exceptional talent further across our portfolio of clients, helping to ensure we deliver on our creative vision.”
