Following the success of the inaugural Race the World event in 2015, Limelight Sports and BIKE Channel have announced a partnership that will see the broadcast of a 26-minute documentary later this month, celebrating the race experience on BIKE Channel from 11th – 28th January.
The documentary follows the pioneer racers' first journey across the USA leg of the first fully supported team cycling race, both on and off the road. The programme gives insight into the highs and lows of the race, showing the locations encountered by the teams highlighting the friendships formed within the two teams battling out 13 stages taking them from LA to Miami.
Race the World will take place again in November this year in USA, once more taking participants on a journey from LA to Miami.
Craig Dews, CEO, Limelight Sports commented: "We're incredibly excited to be airing on BIKE Channel, and as the agency of the Active World, Limelight Sports shares the vision to promote cycling, sport and an active lifestyle in general. With the channel's focus on sport and adventure, we feel it's an ideal fit with Race the World, which puts today's amateur cycling pioneers centre stage of a once in a lifetime challenge and demonstrates our belief in the positive benefits of amazing active experiences.”
Filippo Ubaldini, CEO, BIKE Channel added: “The Race the World event is a challenge unlike any other, and we’re proud to be the pioneers of the broadcast element of the journey. As the home of cycling, we’re delighted that Limelight Sports have chosen us as the broadcast partner for their inaugural event, and we look forward to working with them on an ongoing basis.”
Bike, a channel dedicated to cycling, launched in the UK last year, broadcasting 24 hours a day on Sky and Virgin Media.
