Elite performance technology organisation Catapult has opted for creative agency MATTA to work on a campaign to publicise its PLAYR football tech performance product in 2019.
Catapult first launched PLAYR, a wearable GPS tracker technology which tracks athlete performance, in June 2018. Working with elite teams for over ten years, its technology is now used by over 1800 teams worldwide.
MATTA, which was founded just three years ago and has twice been shortlisted at the BT Sport Industry Awards for Young Agency of the Year, has been tasked with developing an audience positioning strategy and awareness campaign, with the first phase launching in the spring.
Moving forward, Catapult plans to adopt an insight led approach to refine its appeal to grassroots footballers around the world.
Commenting on the up-coming partnership, Matt Campbell, MATTA Executive Creative Director, said: “We're delighted to be working with PLAYR, helping a progressive brand in the wearable tech business, who are pushing the boundaries of sports science, to drive performance of athletes.
“It only further cements our positioning as an agency for brands in the whole sport, health and lifestyle space.
“Our FMCG experience has really allowed us to help our clients connect to fans, and also drive participation. It’s wonderful to build on this unique mix with PLAYR.”
Noel Eves, Senior Vice President, added: “Our mission at PLAYR is to revolutionise match day preparation by making elite technology accessible for every footballer, allowing them to empower their own journey to the next level.”
“MATTA’s experience from the world of FMCG marketing, and strategic process which they apply to sport really gave us the confidence that they can help us achieve this. Allied to this was their strong approach on target audience research and insight.”
The Catapult agreement is the latest account win for MATTA, who recently became the campaign and brand identity agency of the ATP Tour, acting as the creative force behind the new brand and global marketing campaign.
