Team England has revealed its 2018 Commonwealth Games team kit, made by multi-sport apparel brand Kukri Sports and aquatics brand Arena Water Instinct, with Matta producing the accompanying creative campaign - ‘For Team and Country’.
With just over 100 days to go until the Commonwealth Games 2018 opening ceremony on the Gold Coast, Commonwealth Games England are preparing the team, with this week’s unveiling showcasing the range of athlete leisure, training and competition wear.
Athletes in the shoot include the likes of athletics star Tom Bosworth, swimmer Ellie Faulkner, gymnast Max Whitlock and wrestling star Chloe Spiteri.
Each athlete will now be kitted out over the next few weeks before departing for the Gold Coast in March for a pre-Games camp.
The team – which incudes Sport Industry NextGen Leader Nikki Emerson - will compete in 18 sports, including 38 para medal events, in April next year.
England, who wore Kukri’s kit at Glasgow 2014, renewed the deal for Gold Coast 2018.
According to Matta, the campaign ‘For Team and Country’ is a call for the nation’s support, and plays on the phrase - For Queen and Country. The Commonwealth Games and the Queen are linked by Her Majesty’s handwritten message delivered to all the athletes to open the event.
The photography shoot adopts a range of traditionally English scenes, both urban and rural, with the flag of St George appearing as a backdrop.
