M&C Saatchi Sport & Entertainment has announced plans to explore opportunities in Asia, with Global CEO Steve Martin set to relocate to Sydney later this year.

Martin, pictured left with Sydney MD Jamie Gilbert-Smith, will move to the Australian city in September and will be tasked with expanding M&C Saatchi S&E’s global presence and supporting the local office in Australia.

Martin will continue to drive growth across the agency’s offices in New York, Los Angeles, Berlin, Sydney, Johannesburg and London. He will also be tasked with exploring new office openings, with a specific focus to be placed on Southeast Asia.

The agency’s London office will continue to be run by the UK leadership team of Jamie Wynne-Morgan, who serves as UK CEO, and Joint Managing Directors Jodie Fullagar and Rich Barker.

Martin said: “We have always committed to having as few offices as necessary, rather than as many as possible, but with the increasing demand from our clients and with major sporting and culture events in the upcoming decade, it’s now important that we find the right opportunity in Asia to help balance our footprint.

“We have an incredibly strong UK leadership team and so it feels the right time to continue to expand our offering and support the brilliant team in Sydney.”

Earlier this year, M&C Saatchi S&E announced the appointment of Seth Jones as its new Creative Director. Jones arrived at the agency following a five-year spell as Creative Director at AnalogFolk, with whom he led on creative for the likes of Nike, PepsiCo, Lucozade and Sainsbury’s.

M&C Saatchi S&E was also recently appointed as the official creative communications agency for the Australian Olympic Committee’s Tokyo 2020 campaign.

The agency will create the overarching communications platform and integrated campaign to inspire Australian people in the lead-up to and during the Games. M&C Saatchi S&E will also become an official partner of the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) and the Australian Olympic Team, granting it rights to use official designations of the AOC.

M&C Saatchi S&E’s client list includes Coca-Cola, Beko, Heineken, Ballantine’s and Reebok. The firm is a six-time BT Sport Industry Awards Agency of the Year winner.
