Minute Media buys The Players' Tribune

Minute Media has confirmed the acquisition of website The Players’ Tribune.

The company - which owns a host of other sports media properties including 90Min - says that The Players’ Tribune will remain a standalone brand, complementing the organisation’s existing sport portfolio.

Founded by former New York Yankees player, and current Miami Marlins CEO, Derek Jeter, The Players Tribune has become known for its athlete-penned articles telling life stories from a first-person view.

We’re looking to continue our evolution by accelerating our growth and global presence, and this relationship allows us to maintain our position as a trusted resource for athletes, while also giving us the tools and services to do even more.”

Minute Media says The Players’ Tribune will benefit from expanded global reach and access to its end-to-end publishing platform inclusive of audience development tools. 

Jeter will continue to be directly involved in the The Players’ Tribune, and will also join Minute Media’s board of directors.
