MTV International has commissioned OTRO Studios for a new football themed edition of its series, MTV Cribs.
Entitled MTV Cribs: Footballers Stay Home, the series will be produced remotely and will give a glimpse into the lives of a number of top footballers as they stay at home during lockdown.
The show will run for four 22-minute episodes and will feature the likes of Arsenal pair Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and David Luiz, Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard and Andreas Pereira, Belgian star Axel Witsel, and Barcelona’s Lieke Martens.
“MTV Cribs remains one of the most iconic shows in MTV’s history," said Craig Orr, Vice President Commissioning and Development, MTV International. “Whilst fans are home missing sports and seeking fitness ideas, we’ve asked some of our footie favourites to shed light on their stay-at-home routines, while giving the players a platform to reinforce the importance of staying home.”
The series will feature the footballers filming themselves, guided by a remote production team working from home. Using an iPhone attached to a handheld camera rig, the players are connected to a producer via audio, who then guides them around their home. Additionally, the production team is able to see what the camera sees in real time via video conferencing in order to direct filming.
Claire McArdle, Managing Director, OTRO, added: “MTV Cribs is one of those rare things – a cult hit that is still going strong 20 years on - so we are over the moon to be working with MTV International on these special football episodes. Our production team has already done an extraordinary job negotiating the technical challenges of the current situation and we’re looking forward to delivering more unique insights into the homelives of football stars around the world.”
The series is set to air on 1st June across MTV’s international channels and digital platforms.
