Sports data company Opta has confirmed a new deal with the organisers of this year’s Rugby League World Cup, which kicks off next month, to become the official tournament data supplier for the event in England.
The partnership will see Opta work alongside host broadcasters BBC and Premier Sports, as well as the tournament’s global broadcast partners.
Opta will also provide full tournament data and statistics to the RLWC2013 official website.Aidan Cooney, CEO at the data company, added: ‘Opta’s strength in supporting rugby clubs and governing bodies in both codes is something we are very proud of.’

Meanwhile, Vivomed has been appointed as the official medical equipment supplier to the tournament and will provide vital medical equipment and materials to teams and match day personnel throughout RLWC2013.
