A new weeklong focus on sports events is taking place this week across Sport Industry Group channels including an invitation-only event for senior figures from major event organisers, national governing bodies and more.

Spotlight on Events – Reducing Risk in association with Miller will explore the many factors that can make an impact on event delivery in our sector. Miller, a leading insurance and reinsurance broker, is the official category partner of the Event of the Year category at the BT Sport Industry Awards. The European Tour were victorious for the delivery of The Ryder Cup 2018 in Paris. The other events on the competitive shortlist were Vitality Hockey Women’s World Cup; ESL One Birmingham; Fever-Tree Championships, at The Queen’s Club, The Randox Health Grand National; and The Championships, Wimbledon.

Multiple event-related features will run on throughout the week, which in addition to the invitation-only gathering, aim to share knowledge and best practice and amongst senior figures from corporate business functions in sports event delivery.

James Hands, Head of Sport and Entertainment at Miller, said: “The Spotlight Week is an ideal opportunity to bring the sports events community together and share learnings from across the sector and beyond. We are proud to play our part in supporting many of the leading event organisers, national governing bodies and more. We look forward to celebrating more of their success at next year’s BT Sport Industry Awards.”

Alex Coulson, Managing Director, Sport Industry Group, added: “This is the first Spotlight Week of more to come. Kicking things off with a focus on sports events delivery is a great place to start and we couldn’t have a better partner to help us than the expert team at Miller.”
