Sports media agency Spring Media has signed an exclusive deal with Chelsea to distribute content from the Premier League club’s in-house television channel, Chelsea TV, on a global basis.
Under the agreement, Spring will assume global licensing responsibilities for the international programme block, including all Chelsea matches, press conferences and behind-the-scenes programming and archive features for the next three seasons, from 2019/20 to 2021/22.
Guy Laurence, Chelsea FC’s CEO, said: “Increasing engagement with our supporters is key to the club’s continued global growth.
“Providing fans access to video content is an important element of this and we are pleased to be working with Spring Media to maximise our international reach and connection with our fan base.
“Spring has great expertise in media rights and distribution and we see them as the perfect partner to help satisfy the huge appetite for Chelsea’s fantastic video content all over the world.”
Spring has a global reach with its head office in Stockholm and regional offices in France and Mexico.
The agency owns, manages, produces and distributes more than 5,000 hours of live sport annually to over 300 broadcasters worldwide.
Jose Moreno, Partner at Spring Media, added: “We will focus all of our resources across rights licensing, production, media management, content creation, and digital distribution to expand into untapped markets globally while raising overall revenue across traditional broadcast as well as social- and digital media platforms.”
