Employee benefits provider Personal Group has become the latest sponsor of Superhero Series, a new series of events aimed at encouraging participation in sports for people with disabilities.
The announcement comes alongside five more celebrity team captains joining - comedian Adam Hills, Paralympians Ali Jawad, Stephen Miller and Liz Johnson and TV reporter Jordan Jarrett-Bryan. The five new team captains will be part of the 20-strong celebrity line-up.
The Superhero Series is the UK sports series for the country’s 12 million people with disabilities. Personal Group joins five other sponsors already confirmed: Irwin Mitchell, Barclays, Gatwick Airport, Ottobock and Quest 88.
Mark Scanlon, CEO of Personal Group said: “We are so happy to support Superhero Series as its core aims and principles align so well with ours. We strive to help organisations engage and motivate all employees, helping each individual become happier, healthier and more productive. Superhero Series is highly empowering and we truly believe that if people feel like they make a difference, they do!”
Paralympian and Superhero Series founder Sophia Warner said: “I feel extraordinarily lucky to be working with so many like-minded organisations who are committed to helping me create as many Superheroes as possible! We all saw the hugely positive impact the ‘Superhuman’ Paralympians had on people’s hearts and minds. What could be better than extending this spirit of possibility and self-belief to the everyday person with disabilities?”
New Celebrity Superhero Series team captain Adam Hills said: “I am very hugely excited to become a Superhero Series Team Captain and take part in this fantastic event. As you know, I like a challenge and I am looking forward to building my team of everyday superheroes and beating some of the best Paralympians in the world. Come and join me.”
According to organisers, Superhero Series throws out restrictive equipment rules and regulations and encourages participation by enabling participants to unite with family and friends and do as much or as little as they wish, with as much or as little support as they need.
The debut event, Superhero Tri, will take place on 19th August 2017 at Dorney Lake, Windsor.
