Talent agency thinkBeyond Talent and communications agency SoapBox London have both announced the signing of World Super Lightweight Unified Champion Josh Taylor as the agencies join forces ahead of a big year for the ‘Tartan Tornado’.

The undefeated Scottish boxer and Commonwealth Games gold medallist is ranked in the top ten pound-for-pound fighters in the world, and will look to become undisputed champion when he fights the unbeaten unified WBC and WBO Super Lightweight Champion Jose Ramirez later this year.

ThinkBeyond Talent will support Taylor with his personal brand development, commercial partnerships and appearances in addition to his CSR strategy with the support of Benchmark sister company and social change consultancy thinkBeyond.

He joins the talent management agency’s wide roster of talent including Paralympic great Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, two-weight world champion boxer Carl Frampton, and Rugby World Cup winner Will Greenwood.

“For me to achieve my professional and personal ambitions, I need a strong team around me,” said Taylor.

“Legacy is important to any sportsman, and I hope working with thinkBeyond and Soapbox London I can achieve both my short term ambitions - becoming undisputed Super Lightweight Champion of the World, and my long term ambitions, to go down as one of the greatest ever and make an impact.”

Ben Pilbeam, Head of Talent, thinkBeyond Talent said: “We are incredibly excited and proud to be working with one of the world’s finest athletes. We have followed Josh’s journey for some time and we are looking forward to working with him on creating purposeful partnerships and developing his passions for driving social change in his native Edinburgh and beyond.”

Meanwhile communications specialists SoapBox London will manage both Taylor’s PR and social media, with the Tartan Tornado joining the likes of Anthony Joshua, Maro Itoje and Bradley Wiggins as well as other boxing talent Joshua Buatsi, Lawrence Okolie and Campbell Hatton at the agency.

SoapBox London Co-Founder Rowan Wilkinson added: “Josh is one of Britain’s most exciting sporting talents on the world stage and we’re thrilled to join him on his journey to become undisputed champion and beyond. We’ve long been huge admirers of Josh in the ring and we are looking forward to helping him make a similar impact out of it.”
