Leeds United have signed a deal with American e-commerce brand Wish.com, who will become the club’s Official Presenting Partner for the duration of the season.
The deal marks the first time that Wish.com has sponsored a football club, despite an active history in the US-market, where it sponsors LeBron James' LA Lakers.
The partnership with Wish.com will celebrate the Championship club’s centenary year by offering Leeds fans special discounts via the Wish shopping app.
Along with other activations, the brand will have LED signage presence at Elland Road as well as sponsoring manager Marcelo Bielsa’s ice-box. The Argentinian manager famously sits on a cooler box during games, and for the duration of the 2019/20 season it will bear the Wish.com logo.
Paul Bell, Executive Director at Leeds United, said: “The sponsorship market is more competitive than ever before and we are delighted that Wish have chosen Leeds United as their first club association within football. Our innovative and dynamic approach to brand partnerships means that as a club we are able to engage with market disruptive brands to deliver real value for our partners.”
“We have managed to secure this agreement ahead of many of the world’s biggest football teams and against strong competition from other major global sports organisations. As part of the deal, we have created an exclusive package of marketing rights for Wish to maximise their brand visibility at Elland Road and we look forward to working collaboratively with them over the season, introducing our global fanbase to the incredible range of products available on Wish.”
