GOLFTV, the OTT platform owned by US media company Discovery, has announced the launch of a new, exclusive 12-episode series promising “a golf lesson none of you’ve had before” from Tiger Woods.

GOLFTV has teamed up with Golf Digest, which Discovery acquired from Condé Nast last month, for the venture, building on its ongoing partnership with the 15-time major winner.

Discovery announced a multi-year global content agreement with Woods in November and ‘My Game: Tiger Woods’ will offer a sequence of videos that will seek to provide the insights that have led to him becoming one of the all-time great golfers.

The content will shine a light on Woods’ pre-match preparation through to the putting green; the formative influences on his game and the latest training techniques he employs as he returns to rival the world’s leading players.

The series will launch next month and will be hosted exclusively on GOLFTV powered by PGA Tour and Golf Digest.

In other golf news, the European Tour has agreed a deal with the BBC to grant further exposure to its GolfSixes event.

Following a successful first two editions at The Centurion Club in England, this year the event moves to continental Europe and the Portuguese coastal resort of Cascais for the first time, at the Oitavos Dunes Golf Club.

The event will be broadcast live on Sky Sports in the UK, and for the first time it will also be available to British viewers free-to-air on the BBC Sport website and app, BBC iPlayer on desktop, BBC’s iPlayer app and the connected red button BBC channel.

Rufus Hack, the European Tour’s Chief Content Officer, said: “GolfSixes has been one of our leading lights in the drive for innovation in golf as we continue to reach out to new audiences, and this agreement with the BBC means this week’s event will be available to an additional audience than those watching on Sky Sports.

“We are committed to growing and developing this format, which has been extremely popular among young people in particular, and we have no doubt fans watching on BBC’s digital channels will enjoy the excitement GolfSixes Cascais provides as nations from across the world – men and women – battle it out for the title.”
