Leadership package

The Sport Industry NextGen Leaders will receive a Leadership Package filled with experiences, coaching and training throughout the year to help develop their potential. 


The Sport Industry NextGen Leaders will meet for the first time in January at the Development afternoon. They will participate in a range of practical tasks to sharpen their leadership skills and they will work alongside the esteemed Coaches who are there to encourage them to take risks, learn and demonstrate their leadership capabilities.



Two sessions delivered by legal experts. Howard Kennedy will be hosting two afternoons of discussion on various issues in law to help equip Sport Industry NextGen Leaders for the challenges ahead. Our sport sector legal experts will be on hand throughout the sessions to share practical advice on spotting legal risks and dealing with them effectively, as well as discussing areas of particular interest. Topics will include commercial contracts, intellectual property, immigration, employment, tax, private wealth and reputation management. The afternoons will include a series of roundtable sessions and panel discussions looking at case studies and shaped around the issues you want to discuss. They will conclude with a drinks reception giving the Sport Industry NextGen Leaders the opportunity to network.




Spartan Stadion Obstacle Course Race, Twickenham Stadium. Nearly 2800 years ago, the Stadion, a test of speed, strength and willpower, was held at the first ever Olympic games. Today, Spartan honours that tradition – taking over famous stadiums around the world with fierce competition and camaraderie. This December, the Sport Industry NextGen Leaders will test their mettle at the iconic Twickenham Stadium by taking on the epic 5km course, including over 20 unique and challenging obstacles, from low crawls to rope climbs, from fire jumps to sandbag carries. As a group, this challenge will test their resilience, stamina and quick decision making skills – strengthening their ability to support each other and work as a team. 




24-hour Leadership Experience with the Inspirational Development Group at Sandhurst. Inspirational Development Group (IDG) is a business performance improvement consultancy, focusing on leadership, followership and partnership behaviour in business. IDG, in association with the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst are offering a unique 24-hour leadership experience for the Sport Industry NextGen Leaders. They will be introduced to the values-based leadership approach which underpins the development of the Army’s young leaders of today. Lessons learned are completely transferable into the sport industry. With outdoor and classroom based team problem solving exercises, presentations and discussions on leadership and team behaviour, situated in Sandhurst’s stunning environment, the Sport Industry NextGen Leaders will take part in a hugely valuable Leadership Development Experience.



Executive Leadership Workshop from the Institute for Sport Business. Established exclusively for postgraduate study and research, Loughborough University London combines influential thought leaders, pioneering researchers and intellectual innovators to deliver over 30 master’s and PhD programmes in a range of exciting disciplines. The Institute for Sport Business works closely with the industry to tackle some of the most pressing issues affecting the business of sport. The Executive Leadership Workshop will provide the 30 Sport Industry NextGen Leaders with the opportunity to explore their own leadership philosophy whilst equipping them with strategies to make informed and ambitious choices throughout their careers. They will be joined by influential leaders in British sport, who will work alongside them to explore some of the opportunities and challenges facing sports leaders of the future.


Media Training Masterclass with sports broadcaster James Pearce. Communication is vital for all Leaders, both internally with colleagues and externally with clients and potential clients. This interactive masterclass will focus on the art of good communication, where the Sport Industry NextGen Leaders will learn how to deliver content that is engaging and memorable. James Pearce works with the England Football teams, the British Olympic and Paralympic teams, and many senior executives in the industry.



The Sport Industry NextGen Leaders will receive an invitation to one of the Sport Industry Private Dining Club events in 2020. The exclusive, invitation-only members club meets four times a year at some of the best venues in London. It is designed as a relaxed forum for senior industry leaders to host clients, partners or key contacts and exchange ideas and network with like-minded professionals. Members include top level representatives from leading brands, rights holders, agencies and organisations from across the sport industry. Members bring a different guest to each gathering, ensuring the network remains refreshed, with a new mix of influential, senior business leaders at every event. We also invite a speaker to say a few words and enjoy dinner with the attendees in an informal and relaxed setting.



All Leaders will receive invitations to exclusive networking opportunities created especially for them, building an elite network that will expand as each subsequent year’s Leaders join the alumni of high-achieving industry figures.
