Luke Campbell: I do believe this is my time

London 2012 Olympic gold medallist Luke Campbell has spoken about the resilience needed to make it in sport, admitting he had to hit ‘rock bottom’ before rising to the top.

Speaking at the Sport Industry Private Dining Club, Campbell opened up on numerous topics such as his fight in front of a sold-out O2 Arena against Vasyl Lomachenko and his thoughts ahead of his next bout, against Javier Fortuna, as well as his own ups and downs throughout his career.

IOC says 2016 boxing judges not eligible for Tokyo 2020

The IOC Boxing Taskforce has announced that no referees or judges involved in the Olympic Games Rio 2016 will be eligible to participate in either qualifiers for the Tokyo 2020 Games or in Olympic competition itself.

The news came as the organisation confirmed the technical and competition rules for the Olympic boxing and qualifying events would follow existing International Boxing Association (AIBA) rules, with added measures aimed at improving transparency around judging.

Industry Shorts: Barney Francis, DAZN, WTA, Tottenham

Barney Francis has been promoted to the new role of Chief Executive Officer of Future Sport at Sky and will report to Chief Executive Jeremy Darroch.

The role will focus on the changing world of sport, with Francis (pictured) to work with colleagues across both Sky and NBCUniversal to look at growth opportunities for Comcast. Comcast, the parent company of NBCUniversal, acquired Sky last year for $39bn.

Joshua x William Hill TV spot

William Hill has launched a new advertising campaign featuring boxing’s unified world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.

The bookmaker claims the new multimedia campaign is the first of its kind for the company as it is brand-led and weighted towards more post-watershed TV spots, as well as cinema and outdoor platforms, rather than having a traditional focus on live football. 

Beats by Dre’s Powerbeats Pro ‘Unleashed’

Beats by Dre has marked the launch of its new Powerbeats Pro wireless fitness headphones range with a new campaign spot directed by Hollywood filmmaker Hiro Murai.

DAZN to stream Joshua's US debut

DAZN has confirmed that Anthony Joshua’s first US fight in June will be carried exclusively on its streaming platform in the American market.

Joshua is set to face fellow undefeated American heavyweight Jarrell Miller at New York’s Madison Square Garden on Saturday 1st June.

The bout will be streamed live over the DAZN OTT platform, which launched in the US last summer, following the agreement of $1bn, 16-fight deal with Matchroom Boxing USA.

JOE launches boxing show with Carl Frampton

Media company JOE has unveiled a new boxing show, ‘TKO’, hosted by two-weight world champion Carl Frampton and boxing journalist and presenter Chris Lloyd.

The programme is one of a number being launched by JOE in 2019 as it seeks to expand its ‘JOE Presents’ slate of original, long-form and multi-platform productions. Similar football and gaming shows are currently in pre-production.
