The Jockey Club announces record annual results

The Jockey Club, which stages several events in British sport, such as the Randox Health Grand National, The Cheltenham Festival and The Investec Derby, has announced a record set of annual results, including the amount it put back into British Racing through prize money.

The Jockey Club delivered its eighth successive year of turnover growth to a record £191.5m in 2016, up by 4.5% year-on-year [2015: £183.3m].

Love the Jumps: Jonjo O'Neill Racing

The Jockey Club, in association with production company Friday, has released a series of short films that go behind the scenes at the training yards of Jonjo O’Neill and Kerry Lee. Filmed at the start of the 2016/17 National Hunt season, the series takes us behind the scenes through the eyes of the trainers, stable lads and lasses and wider team as preparations are made for the year ahead.

Rewards4Racing partners with Racing Welfare

Racegoer rewards programme, Rewards4Racing, has team up with Racing Welfare, a charity supporting the workforce of British horse racing, in a ‘you spend, we give’ charity partnership.

As part of the deal, Rewards4Racing will donate to Racing Welfare each time a member makes a purchase through the Rewards4Racing website via one of the 4,000 retailers, including Booking.com, Argos and AO.com.

Ascot opens new enclosure

Ascot racecourse has announced the opening of the new ‘Village Enclosure’ for Royal Ascot 2017 (Tuesday 20th – Saturday 24th June).

The first new enclosure to open at the Royal Meeting for more than 100 years is located on the inside of the track looking back towards the final Furlong with Ascot’s Grandstand as a backdrop.

The new space is a ‘pop-up’ summer scene comprising informal dining experiences, bars, and live music throughout the day and into the evening.

Monterosa to create ITV racing app

ITV has selected digital fan interaction company, Monterosa, to create a bespoke fan interaction product.

The new programme app is designed to complement ITV's racing coverage and includes the ITV7 predictor competition, where viewers can win up to £100,000.

The free-to-download app, which launched on Saturday to coincide with ITV Racing’s live coverage from Ascot, will also feature video clips of all of ITV’s races and features, the latest news, plus up-to-date racecards and results.

AP McCoy partners with Randox health

20-time champion jockey Sir Anthony McCoy has partnered with Grand National sponsor Randox Health for a new campaign. 

In advance of the Randox Health Grand National 2017, the race’s new sponsor is launching a nationwide campaign to encourage people to take control of their health and wellbeing, with the help of former jockey AP McCoy.

Global healthcare company Randox Health is offering one lucky winner the chance to join AP alongside its brand ambassadors, including Olympic sailor Matt McGovern.

JETS releases latest Jockey Matters film

Jockey Employment Training Scheme (JETS), a charity that helps current and former professional jockeys plan for a secure future, has released the final film of its ‘Jockey Matters’ campaign, aimed at apprentices and conditionals that focus on various aspects of jockey welfare.

The series features a number of key subjects for riders including returning to riding after injury, nutrition, mental health and wellbeing.
