IMG, the organiser of The Color Run, has announced that Starbucks, P20 Riemann and Supermalt will join the list of sponsors for the 2017 UK event series.
The event, now in its fifth year, has continued to grow and has now reached people in over 50 countries across the globe. The premise of the event is simple, participants can walk, run or dance around the course whilst being covered head-to-toe in coloured powder. This year’s participants will experience the ‘Dream Theme’, which includes an all new ‘Cloud Foam Zone’ and a variety of new colour zones along the route.
The Great Run Company and Strava, a social network for runners, have announced a partnership to bring together participants preparing for some of their events around the country.
Under the agreement, Great Run will work with Strava to create official Great Run event ‘clubs’, with these online communities will be open to anyone using Strava.
The clubs will provide a digital platform to track and monitor training, as well as runner experiences like segment challenges and support for events, including the Simplyhealth Great North Run.
IRONMAN has announced the acquisition of the Competitor Group Holdings (CGI), owner of Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon, extending IRONMAN’s portfolio.
Since the first Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon in 1998, CGI has expanded to host events across 22 major markets in the US and eight international races from the UK to China with more than 30 world-class events including the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Series
Total Warrior, which attracted nearly 20,000 racers to its events in 2016, has teamed up with running brand inov-8 ahead of this year’s series.
inov-8 origins are similar to those of Total Warrior, whose first-ever event in 2011 was held in Shap, Cumbria, just a few miles from inov-8’s UK office. Shap remains one of the events for 2017, alongside Leeds and Edinburgh.
Lucozade Sport has developed a new health app to reward people for moving more as part of its Made to Move campaign, which aims to get one million people moving by 2020.
Launched this month, The Made to Move App will offer hundreds of daily prizes and weekly prizes to incentivise subscribers to move.
The app works on a step-based system and for every 5,000 steps taken, users are automatically entered into a daily draw to win fitness-inspired prizes such as Fitbits and places in Tough Mudder events.
The Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon has announced TruBe as one of its event partners at this year’s race on 8th October.
TruBe, which launched in 2015, is a personal training app which allows users to request personal trainers directly to their home, place of work or local park.
The new partnership will enable TruBe to showcase their trainers through specific training plans available to all runners. TruBe will also be running the half marathon training workshops held in July and September and hosting the complimentary assisted cool down area on race day.
Vitality has announced it has become the first headline partner of parkrun UK. The community-based running series will be referred to as ‘parkrun UK with Vitality’.
CSM Active, the active lifestyle division of CSM Sport and Entertainment, has launched the London 10 Mile, a new running event in Richmond Park.
Entries are now open for the family friendly running event which takes place on 4th June 2017 with up to 10,000 expected to take part.
Richmond Park will be closed off to all forms of road traffic for one day this summer, providing runners with an opportunity to take on the closed roads of one of London’s Royal Parks.
Open water swim series Great Swim has announced that Suunto, a sports watch company, will become the official timing partner for the 2017 season.
The new partnership will also see Suunto become the title sponsor of the London event, held at the Royal Victoria Dock. The Suunto Great London Swim will take place on the 1st July 2017.
Held in lakes, lochs and urban docks around the UK, the Great Swim Series offers a variety of distances for open water swimming enthusiasts of all ages and abilities - from a beginners half mile to a 10k marathon swim.
The Great Run Company has announced that Simplyhealth is to become the new title sponsor of the Great Run – which includes the world’s largest half marathon, the Great North Run.
The agreement will cover events in city locations including Manchester, London, Bristol, Birmingham, Portsmouth, Edinburgh and Newcastle; involving runners of all abilities in distances that range from 5km to the half marathon. The deal also includes the Junior and Mini Great Run events.
