Davis Cup lands Rakuten as presenting partner

Rakuten has signed a multi-year partnership with the International Tennis Federation (ITF) to become the global innovation and entertainment partner and global presenting partner for the Davis Cup.

The deal covers the 2019 and 2020 editions of the men’s national team tournament, which will officially become the Davis Cup by Rakuten. The agreement includes the option of a further two-year extension.

Rakuten will benefit from high visibility in the finals and qualifiers stage of the Davis Cup as part of the agreement.

Konta deal headlines ROKiT’s move into tennis sponsorship

Telecommunications company ROKiT has made its latest move in the sports sponsorship market by agreeing multi-year endorsement deals with a host of leading tennis players, including Britain’s women’s No.1 Johanna Konta.

Along with Konta (pictured), ROKiT has announced partnerships with Frenchman, Gaël Monfils; three-time grand slam champion, Stan Wawrinka; American, Sam Querrey; and US star, Danielle Collins.

Two Circles appointed to drive ATP Finals attendance

The ATP, governing body of men’s professional tennis, has engaged two-time BT Sport Industry Agency of the Year Two Circles to provide marketing support for this year’s Nitto ATP Finals.

The eight-day tournament, which this year will be held from 10th to 17th November, is one of the most attended sports events in the UK, and has boasted an average attendance of more than 250,000 per year since it moved to The O2 in London in 2009.

Wimbledon in OPPO partnership

Smart device brand OPPO has agreed a deal with the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) to become the Wimbledon Championships’ inaugural Official Smartphone Partner, as well as the grand slam tournament’s first Asian partner.

The five-year deal begins with this year’s Championships and adds to OPPO’s sporting portfolio. The company already serves as the official mobile phone partner of Spanish football club Barcelona, as well as the International Cricket Council.

London loses ATP Finals to Turin

The ATP has announced that the Italian city of Turin will replace London as host of the ATP Finals, the season-ending event for men’s tennis, after next year.

Turin has sealed a five-year deal, running from 2021 to 2025, with the ATP Finals to call Pala Alpitour, Italy’s largest indoor sporting arena, its new home.

ATP Media extends with LiveWire

ATP Media has extended its partnership with LiveWire Sport for a further two years to continue delivering the strategy for Tennis TV’s social media channels.

It follows the success of a collaboration that began in 2017 and has helped achieve significant growth for the official live streaming service of the ATP Tour.

Tennis TV’s total social following increased by more than 50% in 2018 and has since reached two million fans. Engagements also grew by 110% year-on-year and video views by 70% to a total of 430 million, according to figures provided by LiveWire Sport.
