The Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) has announced it is launching Tennis on the Thames on the eve of The Championships at Wimbledon this summer, creating a public celebration of women both on and off the court.
Women’s tennis stars will gather on the South Bank of the River Thames on Thursday 28th June at London’s Oxo Tower and Bernie Spain Gardens for a one-day, outdoor festival that will celebrate female icons with an interactive photography exhibition, looking at the journey of each woman’s success and giving guests the opportunity to meet their heroes.

Short-form tennis format, Tie Break Tens, has launched a new grassroots tennis initiative, TB10 Play, designed to increase participation in tennis by enabling clubs to host their own tournaments.
The new programme kicks off across the UK in time for the grass court season this summer.
Launched as a tennis format in 2015, Tie Break Tens is a quick-fire version of the sport, comprised solely of tie breaks – with no games or sets, so every point counts.

Wimbledon has announced the staging of a quad wheelchair doubles exhibition event for The Championships 2018, intended to be a stepping stone towards the introduction of quad wheelchair singles and doubles as Championship events in the future.
The exhibition, which will recognise the importance of quad wheelchair tennis to the global game, will be held during the second week of The Championships 2018.
