Premiership Rugby signs title sponsor

Premiership Rugby has secured a new title partnership with Gallagher, an insurance brokerage, risk management and consulting services company, agreeing a multi-year partnership beginning with the 2018/19 season. 

The new partnership starts on 1st July, with the competition renamed ‘Gallagher Premiership Rugby’ when it kicks off on 31st August. As well as naming rights, the agreement also includes additional branding opportunities and local community programmes. 

Premiership Rugby appoints Ian Ritchie

Ian Ritchie has returned to rugby as the new independent, non-executive chairman of Premiership Rugby.

Ritchie was previously chief executive of the Rugby Football Union (RFU), spending five years at the helm.

He retired from his role at the RFU in May last year and has also held previous roles in tennis and as non-executive director at the Football League and Wembley Stadium. Most recently, he joined Onside Law as a consultant to the firm.

He was elected unanimously by the Premiership Rugby board of directors for a two-year term which will start next month.

First live Aviva Premiership match to be shown on terrestrial TV

Premiership Rugby has confirmed the first ever live match will be broadcast on terrestrial TV.

The match between Harlequins and Northampton on 30th December will be simulcast on BT Sport and Channel 5 and is the first of five matches to be shown by the broadcaster this season.

The match comes as part of a new four-year deal, which includes a Sunday evening highlights programme at 8.00pm.

Premiership Rugby & RFU join forces with Stonewall

Premiership Rugby and England Rugby have joined forces with Stonewall to promote LGBT inclusion in rugby.

The game-wide initiative will see Premiership Rugby and England Rugby work with Stonewall to assess current inclusion programmes and practises and to work on integrating best practise into rugby at all levels.

As part of their commitment, Premiership Rugby, the RFU and the Rugby Players’ Association (RPA) will once again support the Rainbow Laces campaign, scheduled for November 2017.

OPRO signs deal with 11 Premiership Rugby teams

Mouthguard producer, OPRO, has been announced as the official mouthguard partner of 11 AVIVA Premiership Rugby teams including; Harlequins, Bath Rugby, Exeter Chiefs, Gloucester Rugby, Leicester Tigers, London Irish, Newcastle Falcons, Northampton Saints, Sale Sharks, Wasps and Worcester Warriors.

OPRO has signed long-term deals with the Premiership teams, many of whose relationship with OPRO has spanned back over 15 years.

Virgin Atlantic partners with Premiership Rugby

Premiership Rugby has announced a two-year partnership with Virgin Atlantic, with the airline set to work closely with players and fans to enable easy travel across the UK and USA.

Both the Newcastle Falcons and Saracens will be the first to benefit from this new partnership as they jet off to the US next month for the Aviva Premiership Rugby match at the Talen Energy Stadium on 16th September.

Channel 5 wins Premiership Rugby bid

Premiership Rugby and Channel 5 have confirmed a four-year deal that will see Premiership Rugby matches shown live on terrestrial television for the first time in the competition’s history.

The agreement will see Channel 5 broadcast five live games each season from 2017/18, as well as show a highlights programme every Sunday night, covering Premiership Rugby, Anglo-Welsh Cup and Premiership Rugby 7s.

Premiership Rugby extends Perform deal

Premiership Rugby has announced the renewal of its long-term partnership with digital sports content and media group, Perform Group.

The five-year deal with Perform Group sees the continuation of Perform's management of Premiership Rugby Productions. In this role it will cover the production of up to 66 Aviva Premiership Rugby matches each season as well as producing highlights and clips for global distribution.

Land Rover extends with Premiership Rugby

Premiership Rugby has announced the renewal of its partnership with Land Rover for a further four years as the official vehicle partner of Premiership Rugby, a relationship that dates back to 2004.

Land Rover's partnership will see its continued support of the Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup, the national series of grassroots rugby festivals for under-11 and under-12 teams, founded in 2008.
