As the 2021 Guinness Six Nations kicks off, the UK Government’s Department for International Trade has gone behind the scenes at trophy makers Thomas Lyte.
The famous trophy, designed and crafted in Britain from over 50 pieces of sterling silver, is designed and made by Her Majesty’s Silversmiths, Thomas Lyte, who will also make the trophies presented to winners of the Sport Industry Awards 2021.

Taking a look behind the scenes of the Thomas Lyte workshop in London, the GREAT campaign shows the process of getting the 2021 trophy ready before its presentation to the winning team in March.
From designing the pieces to polishing off the finished trophy, the process takes some 200 craft hours to make, before a six-sided trophy - representing each of the competing nations - is placed on a plinth with each union’s crest engraved.
